Strategic Partner Manager

Your team and responsibilities

As Strategic Partner Manager, you are part of the Portfolio department and report to the Manager of Global Strategic Partnerships. Your goal is to ensure the best Brand and partnerships options for current and future loyalty programs worldwide, but your main focus (initially) will be on the French market. Being persistent and eager to close deals is in your DNA. You are responsible for the acquisition of new brands into our portfolio as well as possible new partnerships that elevate our portfolio to the next level. You manage the Brand acquisition's full process via NDA, Memorandum of understanding, concept contract, and final contract. You manage the relationship with the brand until the contract is signed and the categories have been established. You warmly handed over the relationship to the Strategic Partnerships Manager or Brand Manager. Your success will be in your ability to deal with challenges, such as persuading A-brands, establishing the best portfolio options for Brand Loyalty, and helping to balance the portfolio for both short term and

long-term goals.


Tasks & responsibilities

  • Your network of French suppliers/brands helps you to build a steady pipeline for future campaigns, so you nurture those relationships dearly;
  • Maintain the brand acquisition process, including involvement of functional experts in the process; ensure Portfolio is involved at the right moment in the process of acquiring a new brand;
  • Set up the framework with business rules when (or when not) to acquire a new brand in close cooperation with the Manager Global Strategic Partnerships and main stakeholders;
  • By understanding the needs of our retailers as well as consumers, you determine the brand gap in our portfolio and select the rights brands to approach;
    • Autonomously; 
    • In close collaboration with NSOs and Client Facing Teams;
    • In close collaboration with your Portfolio colleagues, including the portfolio and analytics manager.
  • Build and manage a brand acquisition pipeline including goals, deadlines etc.;
  • You communicate and give regular updates to your main stakeholders in the organization on the status of your pipeline and the brands/partnerships in scope;
  • You support the Product Manager and Brand Marketeer when setting up a new concept and ensure there is a strong brand linked to the concept;
  • Set out the brand contact strategy including the BL Brand Proposition deck in close cooperation with the brand marketing team
  • Brand acquisition - contract management;
    • NDA and pre-contract discussion, in close alignment with our Legal team and other stakeholders;
    • Ensure we take the proper legal steps and manage these steps towards the potential new brand or partnership to deliver in the end and sign the new brand/partnership;
  • Contract execution; 
    • on- and off-boarding, including warm handover to the appropriate colleague (Partnerships Manager and/or Brand Marketeer or Sourcing Manager.

Requirements

What qualities do you bring?

  • HBO/University degree;
  • Experience in international trading or merchandising;
  • Commercial experience;
  • Knowledge of and experience with the French market is essential;
  • Experience with legal aspects of signing brand and/or license agreements;
  • Excellent English and French language skills, verbal and written;
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
