Quality and Compliance Manager

As Quality & Compliance Manager for APAC, you operate from the Hong Kong office as part of the global quality team. You report to the Head of Quality, APAC.

Your team and responsibilities

You are responsible for the compliance of the products sold in the APAC markets and for the factory compliance of the products produced in APAC. You act as the Subject Matter Expert for all product quality and compliance topics of your assigned categories for those regions and for all factory quality and (social) compliance topics of those categories in your regions. You test and analyze the products in your categories and perform benchmarks with competitor products. You support Sourcing with Vendor Risk Management by performing audits and continuously monitoring the compliance of the factory towards CSR and product requirements while standardizing and maximizing the quality and continuity of the products and services provided. You continuously increase the technical product and factory knowledge of the organization by proactively advising Operations, Portfolio, Sourcing and Supply Chain on the quality and compliance aspects of new and existing products and factories. You ensure based on the input from the above-mentioned departments that independent risk assessments, tests, factory audits and Final Random Inspections performed by official third parties are according to our commercial commitments and official market requirements.


  • Responsible for product compliance, product benchmarking, factory audits and inspections in the APAC region for your product categories;
  • Responsible for the development of product, factory and production compliance standards/policies and the availability of the relevant documentation.

Job tasks:

  • Initiate risk assessments during the concept/product development phase and when markets are being expended;
  • Create and maintain BrandLoyalty standards & test protocols for your product categories according to positioning in the market;
  • Support Sourcing with technical knowledge during the product development process;
  • Audit factories from a production process, social compliance and environmental point of view;
  • Create and maintain supplier handbooks, inspection manuals, audit reports and additional requirement documentation based on market and commercial requirements;
  • Coordinate third party laboratory tests according to the regional legislation and client specific requirements;
  • Define inspection requirements per program based on internal and commercial requirements, product category, supplier selected and/or storage location;
  • Manage 3rd party audits and FRI inspections;
  • Initiate improvements together with Sourcing and the factories to increase quality of produced items while reducing lead times and costs;
  • Support Sourcing with the creation of FAQ’s, DOC’s and manuals;
  • Support markets on quality issues and certification requirements (review validity of product complaints from consumers, retailers or authorities, draft additional statements together with Legal, …);
  • Initiate and manage testing of products in stock based on expected life cycle of the components,
  • Ensure that all relevant information and results are pro-actively available in the product passport (technical file).

Requirements

What qualities do you bring?

  • Experience with international quality standards, legislation and product testing;
  • Bachelor’s degree education and 5 - 10 years of relevant experience;
  • Well organized, detailed minded & good problem-solving skills;
  • Team player with strong interpersonal skills but able to stand his/her ground when needed;
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English and Chinese;
  • Ability to travel internationally.
