Product Manager

The Product Management team in Japan is now looking for a Product Manager.  

Your team and responsibilities;

Mission of the Product Management team is to develop and offer attractive product ranges for the loyalty programs that are customized for our clients in Japan (retailers such as GMS, Supermarket, drug stores, 1 coin shops) . The Product manager will focus on the buying cost, quality, production capacity & lead time in order to optimise consumer satisfaction and most importantly consumers’ participation in the loyalty programs.  Product manager will work together with various business partners both inside & outside of Japan including global brands, counter-parts in HQ and HK office, Japan supplier, licensor and other internal stake holders. Other responsibilities include:

  • Collaborating with Sales and Operation, to take a lead of product and portfolio planning for the future business for the next 2-3 years. Planning includes phase-in and phase-out plan, stock clearance and new range launch schedule. 
  • Working with global brands, local supplier, licensors, HQ/APAC sourcing team, to lead development new product range for the next 1-2 years. Work with CBI (Consumer business intelligence) team to arrange consumer research to understand consumer preference and trend and be responsible for all aspects of new range development including concept creation, item development and selection, design, balance of quality and cost, packaging, etc. 
  • Build consumer service scheme (call center, service parts supply etc) collaborating with 3PL company, Japan branch of global brands, local supplier and other partners. 
  • Contents support for marketing materials and business presentation. Provide product specification and USP (Unique selling point) information for the creation of creating marketing materials such as displays, POS, business presentation to clients.  

Requirements

Who are you?

  • 5+ years’ product development experience in consumer product industry and/or buyer/merchandiser experience in home or kitchen related products 
  • Business level English (verbal and written). Good communication and networking skills to work with global colleagues in Japan and outside of Japan. 
  • Very good understanding of standard office software (MS Office)
  • Experience of SAP systems (or other ERP systems)
  • Strong time-management in multi-task environment
  • Logical thinker. Problem solving skills with ability to anticipate, identify and solve problems
  • Happy to be hands on and roll up their sleeves
